The story of the black GG-1's (with gold stripes) is that they were painted only during the second shift of the first night of production. The night plant manager and supervisor came in, saw the new green GG-1's that were built on the first shift, said "they are black on the real railroad" (the Pennsy didn't have time to wash them often in 1947!), and they agreed to change the color to black. The next day, the factory decided not to repaint these, so they went down the assembly line on the second night of production! About 480 were made that night (one per minute for 8 hours). Black G's with silver stripes were made later. A thing to behold in 1947 - one motor with two ball bearings - and runs so nicely and quietly. Black painted diecast body with five rubber-stamped stripes, gold rubber-stamped lettering, small PRR keystone marking centered at the upper quarter of sides, small keystone nose decal numbered "2332" at each end, headlight lens, running lights, ornamental horn each end, two pantographs, single angle-mounted motor, no Magnetraction, three position E-unit, light both ends, AC vibrator horn, and operating coil couplers. Box number is 2332-275.
